Dear HUUSD Community,
The HUUSD school board held its last board meeting of the 2019-20 school year on Wednesday evening, June 24. We wanted to share this update with you going into the summer.
1. Budget Approved! Thank you to our voters for approving our FY21 budget and a special thanks to our six town clerks for making this special election possible on June 16th.
2. Timeline for PreK - 12 Planning and Configuration Decisions. The Board approved a timeline for next steps in our PreK - 12 planning process and will receive an updated and expanded data package related to the 7/8 merger at Crossett Brook at our 8/26/20 Board meeting.
3. Anti-Racism Efforts in the HUUSD. The Board dedicated much of our last meeting to a discussion of anti-racism and heard from school leaders about efforts currently underway to address this important topic. The Board considered a proposal to fly the Black Lives Matter flag at all campuses over the summer but decided not to do so. Rather, Board members expressed interest in re-visiting this idea in the fall when we can hear from more community members and students.
The Board will reconvene at the end of August. Please visit https://huusd.org/huusd-board to confirm time and place of meetings and to find all board meeting agendas, packets and minutes.
Thank you for your continued support and engagement.
Respectfully,
The HUUSD Board
