Dear HUUSD leaders, staff and teachers,
As we enter week three of this "new abnormal" of school, we want to extend our gratitude and admiration. Through our own children we have seen the HUUSD team maintaining strong connections with students through video conferences, emails, and class pages. What we aren't seeing, but know is happening, is your extensive collaboration with colleagues, research into new remote teaching tools and the solving of endless logistical puzzles as you juggle your own family responsibilities.
From food service to online learning to support for students and their families, you are doing tremendous work to meet many essential needs in our community. Both of us spent several years as classroom educators and marvel at what you have accomplished in the past two weeks. We know the demands may only increase in the months to come and we will continue to advocate for the resources you need to make learning possible in this new environment.
As you continue to care for your students from afar, we hope that you are also taking care of yourselves. Please know that we value your thoughtfulness, your creativity and your professionalism in adapting to such sudden changes in our school community. We are grateful for your efforts and are here to support you.
With warm regards,
Caitlin and Torrey
