Dear HUUSD Community,
The HUUSD Board met remotely on Wednesday August 19. Most of the meeting centered around updates and questions about the District’s return to school this fall. Superintendent Brigid Nease shared a report with the most recent plans, survey data, and schedules and timelines. The report is available at this link: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1LK_t88rH0mC44Smg4qYenv08LBCtrj-h/view
The Board also took several actions, including approving the District administrators’ request to carry unused summer vacation days into the following year; delaying discussion of the 7/8 merger until after the Board retreat later this month; and approving the consent agenda.
On August 26th, the Board will host a retreat from 4:30PM to 8:30PM, facilitated by Susan Holson of the Vermont School Boards Association. The first two hours will be an internal Board training about the roles and responsibilities of school boards and the second two hours (starting at 6:30) will be an open meeting discussing the Board’s goals for the coming year.
The next regular Board meeting will be September 9, at 6:00PM.
The Board hosted its fourth Q&A session with district leaders this past Monday. The events have been well-attended by both parents and staff. Our next Q&A will be on August 31 at 6:30 PM -- available on Zoom, Youtube or MRVTV. There will be another on September 14.
Remote meeting requirements have made it easier than ever to participate in or view School Board meetings, and we hope you will consider joining us.
