From the Superintendent 2/21/20
Hello everyone-
As most of you know, the process of RIF (reduction in force) and reassignment has prescribed steps that must be followed in order based on the union contract. Each individual employee, until mid April--when contracts for the following year are due to be returned--makes decisions that then further change the announced plan. We are in that change process now. Hopefully, most of the reductions for FY21 can be achieved through attrition. An updated document with a revised date of 2/21/20 is linked above.
The green staff RIF list (linked in the report, top of page 3) includes 7 teaching staff expected not to return and 1 non-union employee. While not confirmed, this could change to 5 teachers. All others will be reassigned.
The blue list of reassignments (same link as green RIF list, top of page 3) stands at 26. Of those, 18 are changes in location due to 7/ 8 merger. The 8 others are across all seven campuses in changes to grade levels and/or location.
Here are some of the changes most misunderstood and reported on since the original announced plan:
HUHS 9-12 FY 2021:
As you can see, Harwood Union High School will not have a serious impact on programming resulting from merging 7/8.
