The HUUSD School Board met in person (with an option for remote participation) last Wednesday, May 11, 2022.
The meeting began with a public comment from Life LeGeros reading excerpts from a letter from the Waterbury Area Anti-Racism Coalition, requesting a review of the discipline procedures in the District, including the use of restraining and seclusion practices.
Board Member Theresa Membrino (representative from Fayston, who has served since 2018) resigned. Theresa was thanked for her service by the chair, Kristen Rodgers.
Superintendent Brigid Nease answered several questions regarding the use of restraints and seclusion, and clarified, in general terms, the Vermont Agency of Education policy with regard to these topics.

The board reviewed the most recent draft of the Flag Policy and Procedures. Several changes were suggested to improve clarity of the policy. The board will review the revised policy based on these suggestions at the next Board meeting on May 25, 2022.
