Dear HUUSD staff and families:
Thank you to everyone for your continued patience and support as we work together to sift through what seem to be daily changes to guidance, testing availability and more. The good news is that these ever shifting details are good fodder for lots of comedians!
ANTIGEN TESTS AVAILABLE TO END QUARANTINE Current guidance indicates that individuals identified as close contacts should complete a PCR test on day 5 (or, if using antigen tests, complete two tests 24 hours apart beginning no sooner than day 4). Those who have tested positive for COVID-19 can complete antigen tests on days 4 and 5 to end their isolation. We understand how challenging it is for people to access PCR or find antigen tests at this time.
Given the immediate shortage of tests, we are able to make antigen tests available to those who need them to end their quarantine. These are for individuals for whom day 5 of quarantine is Saturday 1/8 - Monday 1/10.
These tests are for students in pk-12th grade and staff who need these to test out of quarantine if they have been identified as a close contact or need to test to end isolation after testing positive for COVID-19.
Who Should Complete a COVID-19 Test beginning No Sooner Than Day 4

We are only able to make these tests available to staff and pk-12 students who fall into these categories. If you/your child was identified as a close contact through school, or you/your child tested positive and you reported it to HUUSD, your name has already been entered onto our master list of who is eligible to pick up a test. If you/your child has been identified as a close contact outside of school, please contact your school nurse to be entered onto the master list of those eligible for these tests.
These antigen tests are available for pick up at two centralized locations, Crossett Brook Middle School and Waitsfield Elementary School, from 9-2 on Friday 1/7/22. Again, you may only pick up a test for an individual who meets the criteria outlined above and is on our master list of those needing testing to end quarantine during the specified time period.
To pick up, please come to either location between 9 am - 2pm Friday 1/17/22 and call the school to let them know you are there for pick-up. Please be prepared to state the name of the individual for whom you are picking up.
If you are unable to call from your vehicle, please ring the doorbell at the school.
We are working on an ongoing system for distributing tests as needed.
SPECTATORS AT HUUSD ATHLETIC EVENTS Beginning Monday, 1/10/22 tickets will be made available to the families of our student athletes so that up to 4 family members can attend their games/competitions. More details will be coming soon to the families of student athletes from athletic director Chris Langevin.
We will continue to keep you apprised as we work to best meet the needs of our community.
Respectfully,
Allison Conyers, HUUSD COVID coordinator
Kaiya Korb, HUUSD building based COVID administrator
Brigid Nease, HUUSD superintendent of schools
