Dear HUUSD Community-
Yesterday, we welcomed back our staff to inservice and our official start of the 2020-2021 school year. There were no bagels and coffee, laughter and gatherings. These are uncertain times, somewhat scary times and not just because of the fear of this virus. Everything we seem to touch to do our work feels different and unfamiliar. Even with working all summer, planning, documenting and preparing, we do not feel anchored. We are in person and remote, masked and distanced, training in new protocols, and still trying to figure out so many of the small details. Over the next eight inservice days we are refining schedules, addressing glitches, engaging in PD to improve online instruction, developing social and emotional supports for both staff and students upon return, practicing safety and health protocols, and launching our HUUSD Remote Academy. Our sense of community remains strong and unwavering. We will support and carry each other whenever needed as we strive to meet the needs of all our students to the greatest extent possible while taking care of ourselves and each other along the "new school COVID Journey". I hope each of us never loses sight as to why we became educators in the first place. This YouTube video reminds us. Forward we go together. Let's lift each other up.
Best regards,
Brigid
