Our Schools: A Community Investment
The Harwood Unified Union School District is the foundation of our vibrant community. Our consistent enrollment numbers and strong academic performance demonstrate the quality of our schools and the trust families place in our district.

Responsible Budget Management
The School Board is committed to fiscal responsibility while maintaining educational quality. The proposed budget is only a 2.75% increase over the current budget.

Impact on Staff and Programs
To meet these financial constraints, difficult decisions are required:
Staffing Changes
- Reduction of 15-20 full-time equivalent positions (Mix of administrators, teachers, and support staff)
- Some reductions through retirements and resignations
- Larger class sizes where possible
Program and Service Adjustments
- Reductions in library and technological resources
- Elimination of summer academic programs
Operational Changes
- Transportation route efficiency adjustments
- Building operations reductions
- Central office lease expires end of 2025-26 year
- Maintenance reserve reductions
These changes come despite our steady enrollment over the last 5 years, unlike many Vermont districts facing declining numbers.
